Bastille Day, National Holiday in France

On July 14th is celebrated the Bastille day in France

If there is one event not to miss in Paris, it is the national holiday in France! 2 days of exceptional entertainment.  A quality programme that combines a military parade with fireworks display at the Eiffel Tower, outdoor concerts, french cuisine festivals and much more. The July 14th parade along the Champs Elysées in Paris is the highlight of the French national holiday celebration. You can admire the famous military parade of jet aircraft reaction Alpha Jet of the patrol of France. The sky of the capital is covered in a blue, red and white smoke. About 11 am, soldiers, civil guards, firefighters and other students from large schools are deployed in spectacular fashion on the Champs Elysees, accompanied by the applause of the people.

Music in the Eiffel Tower

In the afternoon, Paris is livened up and prepares dances in fire stations. The most prominent on National Day is doubtlessly the concert of classical music (free) on the Field of Mars and the pyrotechnic show.

At get dark, two hundred and fifty musicians of the National Orchestra and Choir of Radio France interpret the works of Mozart, Verdi, Berlioz, Wagner … In this way, they compete for the favors of the iron lady, glittering before the great pyrotechnic show, 35 minutes of explosion of lights and rain of stars.

Carcassonne, the largest fortified city in Europe

Travelers looking for a premium experience can not miss this cultural visit in Carcassonne, the largest fortified city in Europe.

This place declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO is a Roman and Medieval City located in the south of France. The city rises to the west of the Aude river, which divide it, in two parts: La Cité or citadel, on the right side, and the Bastide of Saint Louis, on the left side. Surrounded by walls, it was built on the ruins of an ancient Roman fortress.

What to visit in Carcassonne?

You cannnot miss the medieval city of Carcassonne with 52 towers, 3km of wall and its amazing castle. 

The Basilica of Saint Nazaire, a fantastic Gothic building, called “the jewel of the Cité”, and its magnificent stained glass from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries which represents the life of Christ and his disciples.

Other important site of the town you must not miss is the Bastide of Saint Louis and its organic market of fruits and vegetables at la Place Carnot, on Saturday morning.

The Pont Vieux (old bridge), built in the 14th century, used to be the only point of connection between the Bastide of Saint Louis and the medieval Citadel at that time.

Close to the bridge you will also find the Bellevue Park with a breathtaking view of the Citadel.

And last but not least, The Canal du Midi and its surroundings. A work of Pierre-Paul Riquet, made in the seventeenth century, crosses the city.

Mannhiem, Germany

Mozart had a close connection with Mannhiem since the first time he was there, with only 7 years old, he played in front of the whole court. In the second half of 18th century, Mannheim was trend setting in European music scene. This was the reason why the composer, visited the town several times. Mannheim became the professional springboard, since elector Carl Theodor commissioned Mozart with the composition for his new seat of government in Munich the “Idomeneo”. It was not easy for Mozart to find work, so he travelled to Paris with his mother in hopes of getting a good position. At the age of 21, Mozart was struggling with the little money that he earned from teaching music to students and he barely knew how to speak French. When his mother died he soon left the city. Currently the Garnier Palace honors the musician with a bronze bust.

In the Loire Valley is placed this castle dating from XV century. It is also known as the castle of The Sleeping Beauty as leyend claims that this building inspired Disney to write it famous tale. Nowadays, some of the rooms are set in scenes of the mentioned tale. Its green areas are amazing and were designed by the same architecture who conceived the gardens of the Versailles Palace.

Neuschwanstein Castle

This was built on the small island of Széchenyi, Budapest. The original castle was built from wood and paper in order to celebrate the thousand years of Hungarian State. This act was well accepted by the population and consequently it was rebuilt from stone and brick
